AMR Shujaa Fellowship Program 2025 Application Form

The AMR Shujaa Fellowship Program 2025 Application Form

Are you an undergraduate (university or college) student pursuing your studies in Kenya, passionate about learning and engaging in innovative interventions to mitigate Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)? This program is for you!

Zihi Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and disseminating data-driven, innovative, and scalable interventions to address the overlooked drivers of infectious diseases and AMR, is proud to launch the AMR Shujaa Fellowship Program! The AMR Shujaa Fellowship is a dynamic, nine-month hybrid capacity-building program targeting 50-60 undergraduate students from 10 Kenyan universities and colleges. It empowers you to become part of a vast multidisciplinary professional pool, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to design sustainable AMR interventions. The program employs a systems approach, featuring virtual training, expert-led webinars, hands-on workshops, group discussions, iterative co-creation sessions, and experiential learning. Running from August 2025 to April 2026, it aims to address Kenya’s AMR crisis, where bacterial AMR alone contributed to 37,300 deaths and directly caused 8,500 in 2019 alone, with projections of 4.1 million deaths annually in Africa by 2050 if unchecked.

The program aims to:

  1. Build the capacity of tertiary students in mitigating AMR through comprehensive One Health training, co-creation of community interventions, and support to establish sustainable AMR clubs within their institutions.
  2. Ignite passion and commitment to AMR mitigation among tertiary students, encouraging prioritization of AMR-related careers and the emergence of multidisciplinary leaders across diverse fields.
  3. Amplify youth voices in AMR mitigation at national and regional levels by fostering synergistic efforts through collaborative, multidisciplinary engagement and impactful projects.

N.B.: Please review the guiding document and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to fully understand the program before applying. Ensure you go through these documents carefully before submitting your application.
